In conjunction with Sheraton Utama Hotel’s UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge 2008, the hotel has tied up with Brunei Art Forum to hold a joint art exhibition. The art exhibition is a one day event that will be held tomrrow at Sheraton Utama Hotel’s Mutiara Ballroom. Themed as ‘Child Survival’, both parties hopes to not only create awareness of the theme and UNICEF but to also promote local talents.
“Many orphans and vulnerable children lack the love and care that they need. Our aim is to create awareness to the public that children have a right to learn, to play and to belong. We’re not only encouraging local artists to participate in this exhibition, but children as well,” states Sheraton Utama Hotel’s UNICEF Ambassador.

The Boss Payback was a new event that was introduced by Sheraton Utama Hotel’s UNICEF Committee to raise funds as well as create awareness of the UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge.
This event was carried out to get associates to vote as many times as they like on what they would like to see their department heads do for a good cause. Associates were given envelopes with a choice of three options and each vote cost B$1.00
The final activity choice falls onto the most popular option. This way, the Sheraton associates get to decide as a majority and that every vote counts. Not only was it a great fund raising activity, it incorporated the hotel’s ‘Belong’ essence.
The most popular option that was received from the voting period was the Charity Carwash for Associates. The Department Heads of Sheraton Utama Hotel as well as its UNICEF Ambassador geared up with hoses, sponges and towels for this UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge activity.

Children have the right to learn, to play and belong. Many orphans and vulnerable children lack the care and support that all children need for their development and well-being. With the funds raised from the UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge, it would help in giving children the chance to belong.
